Psalm 113

Praise the Lord. Servants of the Lord praise Him.
Praise now and forevermore.
Praise from sunrise to sunset.

Exalt Him over all the nations.
His glory (perfection) is above the nations.
No one is like God. God sits enthroned on high and stoops down to look at heaven and earth.

He raises poor from the dust of poverty.
He lifts the needy from the ash heap of want.
The poor and needy sit with the princes.
The barren woman becomes a happy mother.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 112

Praise the Lord.
Blessed is the man who has respect for God, who finds pleasure in keeping God’s commands.
His children will be mighty and blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house – the wealth and riches of God’s blessings.
Even in darkness, God’s light can be seen by the upright man looking up to God. Being gracious, hospitable, compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who is just in every affair.
A righteous man will never be shaken and will be remembered forever.
He will no fear “bad news” because his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is secure in that trust and he will not have any fear. In the end, he will look in triumph on his foes.
He has scattered his gifts to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His dignity will be honored by all.
The wicked man will see him and be vexed. He will waste away and his longings will fade away to nothing.

Psalm 111

I will extol the Lord with all my heart – with everything I am. I will extol Him in the public meeting.

God’s works are great. If you delight in them, you ponder them.

His deeds are glorious, perfect, majestic. His righteousness endures forever. His wonders are so wonderful, no one can forget them. He is gracious and compassionate. He provides food. He remembers and keeps His promises and covenants. He has shown us the power of His Works. His works are faithful and just. His precepts, laws are trustworthy. God is steadfast, faithful and upright. He provides redemption for us.

Knowing God is the beginning of wisdom. Follow His precepts and you’ll have good understanding. He deserves eternal praise.

Psalm 105

Give thanks to the Lord.
Thank You for past, present and future.
Thank You for family and friends.
Thank You for home and work.
Thank You for salvation and heaven.

Call on His name.
Abba, Father. Jehovah God. Lord God Almighty.

Come. Look upon Your servant. Bless, teach, guide.

Make known what He has done.
God has sowed. God has blessed. Goad has taught. God has disciplined.

Tell of all his wonderful acts.
In grammar school, He kept me from being hit by a car.
In high school and college, He kept me safe as I travelled through unsafe neighborhoods.
He helped me do well in school.
He guided my career and found my jobs.
He brought my husband and me together at the right time.
He guided my husband’s careers and found his jobs.
He guided my parents and led them safely to heaven.
He separated my husband and me at the right time.
He rebuilt my life.

Glory in His name. Seek the Lord and rejoice. Look to the Lord and to His strength.

Remember His wonders, His miracles and His judgments.
Remember your history has been charted by God.
Keep His precepts. Observe His laws.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 13

Actually, it’s not that God has forgotten us, but that we’ve forgotten Him. Trials and hard times come to teach us. It’s when we forget to see God in all things, when we forget to believe that He is there even when we can’t see Him that we begin to complain.

We don’t have to wrestle with our thoughts if we confess and surrender them to God.

We don’t have to have sorrow in our hearts if we remember that God is still there even though we don’t see Him as we want to – if He’s not as visible as we’d like Him to be. God doesn’t always lead by pillars of cloud and fire – most of the time He leads by a still small voice.

God doesn’t always make His presence known by wondrous miracles or plagues – most of the time it’s a quiet assurance deep in the folds of your heart knowing that He’s holding you in the palm of His hand.

Our enemies triumph over us because we allow them to. Our biggest enemy is ourselves.
Open our eyes to see Your Presence.

God is always good to us – even when life doesn’t seem to be.
