Your hands made me and formed me;
Give me understanding to learn Your word.
May those who fear and respect You rejoice when they see me,
For I have put my hope in Your word.
I know, O Lord, that Your word is righteous,
And in faithfulness to Yourself, Your word, and me, You have afflicted and disciplined me.
My Your unfailing love be my comfort,
According to Your word to Your servant.
Let Your compassion come to me that I might live,
For Your word is my delight.
May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause;
But I will meditate in Your word.
May those who fear and respect You turn to me,
Those who understand Your word.
May my heart be blameless toward Your word – may my love and motivation be faithful and true,
That I may not be put to shame.
Do good to Your servant
According to Your word, O Lord.
Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
For I believe in Your word (Faith then is the basis of wisdom and good judgment)
Before I was afflicted (with Your discipline) I went astray (sinned),
But now I obey Your word.
You are good, and what You do is good.
Teach me Your word.
Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,
I keep Your word with all my heart.
Their hearts are callous and unfeeling,
But I delight in Your word.
It was good for me to be afflicted
So that I might learn Your word.
The word from Your mouth is more precious to me
Than thousands of pieces of silver and gold, than all the wealth in the world.
(Heth is the eighth letter of the Hebrew alphabet)
You are my portion O Lord. You are mine. Portion – an individual’s part or share of something; an individual’s lot, fate, or fortune. You are my part, my share of life. My lot, fate and fortune is You. You are my life.
I have promised to obey Your word.
I have sought Your face with all my heart;
Be gracious to me according to Your promise, Your word.
I have considered and thought about my ways
and have turned my steps to Your word.
I will hasten and not delay
to obey Your word.
Though the wicked bind me with ropes (of temptation)
I will not forget Your word.
At midnight I rise to give You thanks
for Your righteous word.
I am a friend to all who fear You.
to all who follow Your precepts, Your word.
The earth is filled with Your love, O Lord.
Teach me Your word.
(Zayin is the seventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet)
Remember Your word to Your servant,
For Your word has given me hope.
My comfort in my suffering is this:
Your word preserves my life.
The arrogant mock me without restraint,
But I do not turn from Your word.
I remember Your word O Lord
And I find comfort in them.
I’m angry about the wicked
Who have forsaken Your word.
Your word is the theme of my song
Wherever I stay the night.
In the night, I remember Your name O Lord,
I will keep Your word.
This has been my practice:
I obey Your word.
Unfailing love – no matter what love
May it come to me. May I be open to receive it.
God’s unfailing love is our salvation and it is promised to us.
When Your love and salvation come to me, then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in Your word, in Your love, and in Your salvation.
Let me be able to speak about You when the opportunity comes, for I have put my hope in Your word.
I will always obey Your word forever.
I will walk about in freedom from sin, for I have sought out Your word.
I will speak of Your word before kings and will not be put to shame,
For I delight in Your word because I love it.
I lift up my hands to Your word, which I love,
I meditate on Your word.
Teach me God to follow Your word;
Then I will keep Your word to the end.
Give me understanding, and I will keep Your word and obey it with all my heart.
Direct me in the path of Your word, for there, in obedience, I find delight.
Turn my heart towards Your word and not toward selfish gain – to seek You and not self.
Turn my eyes away from worthless things – worldly things;
Preserve my life according to Your word – save me from sin.
Fulfill Your promise to Your servant,
So that the world may reverence You.
Take away the disgrace I dread (Your disapproval).
For Your word is good.
How I long for Your word!
Preserve my life in Your righteousness. Keep me obedient.
(Daleth is the fourth letter of the Hebrew alphabet)
I am laid low in the dust – ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Preserve my life according to Your word – save me and take me to heaven.
I recounted my ways, I listed all the things I’ve done in my life – good and bad – and You answered me. You showed me which were good, which were bad.
Teach me Your word.
Let me understand the teaching of Your word. When I understand, I will meditate on your wonders.
My soul is weary with sorrow.
Strengthen me according to Your word.
Keep me from deceitful ways;
Be gracious to me through Your word.
I have chosen the way of truth – to follow You;
I have set my heart on Your word. It’s what I want above all else, it’s what I think about most.
I hold fast to your word, O Lord, I don’t let go;
Don’t let me be put to shame. Bless me for holding fast to Your word.
You have set my heart free – free from sorrow
free from deceit
free from shame.
