I love the Lord because He heard my voice, my prayers, my cry for mercy. Because He inclines His ear to me, pays attention to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
Death entangled me, its anguish came upon me, I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. I called on the name of the Lord to save me.
The Lord is gracious, righteous, full of compassion. He protects the simple-hearted and saved me when I was in great need.
My soul can rest at ease for the Lord has been good to me.
You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before You in the land of the living.
I believed even though I was greatly afflicted and convinced that all men are liars. How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me? I will accept salvation and call on God. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in public.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. I am your servant and You have freed me from my chains.
I will sacrifice a thank offering and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows in public.
Not to us, O Lord, but to Your name be the glory and praise.
Others may ask where my God is, but I know. My God is in heaven, doing what pleases Him.
Those who trust in idols will end up like them:
They will have mouths, but not be able to speak.
ears, but not be able to hear.
noses, but not be able to smell.
hands, but won’t be able to feel.
feet, but won’t be able to walk.
Trust in the Lord, your help and shield.
The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
Heaven belongs to God, the earth to man.
The dead don’t praise God – we do.
Praise Him now and forever more.
I will extol the Lord with all my heart – with everything I am. I will extol Him in the public meeting.
God’s works are great. If you delight in them, you ponder them.
His deeds are glorious, perfect, majestic. His righteousness endures forever. His wonders are so wonderful, no one can forget them. He is gracious and compassionate. He provides food. He remembers and keeps His promises and covenants. He has shown us the power of His Works. His works are faithful and just. His precepts, laws are trustworthy. God is steadfast, faithful and upright. He provides redemption for us.
Knowing God is the beginning of wisdom. Follow His precepts and you’ll have good understanding. He deserves eternal praise.
I praise You – I don’t remain quiet.
Wicked men speak against me – they speak lies, hatred, accusations.
I am a person of prayer. They repay me evil for good, hatred for friendship, betrayal for love.
Appoint an evil man for the evil man. Send him an accuser, find him guilty, let his prayers condemn him. His days will be few, someone else will take over leadership. His children will be fatherless and wandering beggars. A creditor will seize all he owns and strangers will enjoy the fruits of his labor. No one will have pity or mercy. The family name will be blotted out. God will never forgive him. He never thought of doing a kind deed, but hounded the poor to death. May the curse he put on others return to him.
Deal well with me. Deliver me.
I am poor, needy, wounded, fading away, scorned.
Help me, save me.
Men may curse, but God will bless.
I will extol God and praise Him for He stands at the right hand of the needy one and saves his life from those who condemn him.
I remember finding this psalm when I was recovering from my divorce. Every time I came across it, I would pray it with venom in my voice. But the more I allowed God to heal me and the more I forgave, the less venom and the more pity accompanied my prayer.
My heart is steadfast. Unwavering. Loyal to You.
I will sing and make music and put everything into it.
I will awaken the dawn with my music.
I will praise You among all nations.
Your love is great – higher than the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted – praised and lifted up – above the heavens.
Let Your glory and perfection be over all the earth.
Save us, help us, deliver us.
The earth and all its countries belong to God.
With God our armies will conquer.
