Psalm 102

Hear my prayer. Answer me.

My life is short and full of suffering and punishment.

Your life is forever and full of compassion.

Combine the two. Make my life longer and easier. Release me. Give me eternal life.

People change. The earth changes. But God remains the same.

Psalm 101

Sing! Sing of God’s love and justice. Sing praise to God.

I will be careful to lead a blameless, perfect life. I will walk in my house with a blameless, perfect heart – one totally following God. I will set before my eyes no vile thing, no vile thought, no vile reading material, no vile video.

I will associate with faithful people and have nothing to do with faithless, perverse, evil people. I will silence whoever slanders his neighbor. I will not associate with haughty, proud people.

I will watch the faithful and dwell with them. The blameless, perfect will serve me. Practice deceit and you will not dwell in my house. Speak falsely and you won’t speak to me.

Come and See!

Come and see! Come and see!

An excited (ok, extremely excited) voice calls out. Something new has been discovered by the voice, or perhaps something old has been seen in an entirely different way and has captured their heart and their imagination. Something monumental and previously thought to be impossible has been accomplished.

Whatever it is, you can be sure it is absolutely wonderful and that it’s an experience that just has to be shared. And so the voice rings out, “Come and see! Come and see!”

Our response is absolutely critical to the voice. What will it be?
Not now, I’m really busy.
In a minute.
See what?
Maybe later.
Just a second.
As soon as I finish this.

Do you remember a time when the voice was a child’s? Did you see or hear the whoosh of enthusiasm disappearing as you burst their balloon of excitement with your pin of indifference?

No go back and re-read this, imagining that the voice is God’s. Listen carefully, and you’ll hear the same whoosh of enthusiasm disappearing. Look carefully, and you’ll see the disappointment of a joyous gift missed.

God is constantly calling to us. He desires to share so much with us. The wonder of creation, the light in a human spirit, the tenderness of love. Miracles abound. We miss them because we don’t come when He calls.

Come and see! Come and see! Come and see what God is doing!

Come and see! Come and see! The tomb is empty! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

Come and see!

Psalm 100

Shout for joy. Make a joyful noise.
Everyone. All the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Obey the Lord with gladness.
Come before Him, His presence with gladness.

Know – learn, believe, apply. That the lord is God
That God made us
That we belong to God
That we are the sheep of his pasture. His pasture is the best in all the land.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving – the gates of His pasture – the world we live in.
Enter into his courts with praise. The earth is His court.
Give thanks to God.
Praise God’s name.
God is good,
God’s love endures all we do to Him forever. No matter how often we hurt Him – He still loves us, and is faithful to us.

Psalm 99

God reigns – let the nations tremble –shake with fear and worry. God is greater than any nation. God is holy – praise His great and awesome name.

The king is mighty and loves justice. He is fair, and has done what is right. Exalt the Lord – tell everyone about Him. Worship at his footstool – the earth.

Moses, Aaron and Samuel called on God and God answered them. God spoke from the pillar of cloud. They kept His statutes and decrees, His testimonies and ordinances, they followed His instructions. God answered and forgave, even though He punished.

Exalt the Lord, worship Him – He is holy.
