Hear my cry, O God; Listen to my prayer.
I seem to be far away – at the ends of the earth.
My heart grows faint.
Your rock is higher than I am – lead me to there to the rock and help me to climb up.
You are my refuge.
You are a strong tower against the foe – any foe. Sin, sickness, poor attitude, depression.
I long to dwell in Your tent.
To snuggle in the shelter and soft feathers of Your wings. Better than any quilt, comforter or afghan.
My heritage. I can never stray far from You.
Increase the days of my life.
Help me to feel Your presence, love and faithfulness.
Nevertheless, the Lord said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in carrying out what is right in My sight and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, four generations of your sons will sit on the throne of Israel.” II Kings 10:30
Jehu did well in carrying out what was right in God’s sight – he eliminated the Baal worship for Israel (verse 29) and he annihilated the house of Ahab – every son (10:1-10), every great man, close friend and priest (verse 11), leaving him no survivors. What strikes me is that annihilating the house of Ahab was “all that was in My heart”. It brings me up short that brutally destroying evil is in God’s heart. It reminds me that He is a God to be feared, respected and obeyed or else there are serious consequences – in this life and the next.
