Insights from Chronicles

I Chronicles 16:7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord unto the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

The first thing David did was deliver a psalm of thanksgiving to the Lord. It should also be the first thing we do whenever there is a change in our lives.

II Chronicles 17:6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord; moreover, he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

The heart of Jehoshaphat was like David’s (verse 3). Jesus was lifted up – crucified on a cross; lifted up to glory. We lift up prayers. Lifting up is a vertical motion. We pick something up from a low place and bring it up higher. So to lift up my heart in the ways of the Lord is to pick my heart up out of my flesh, forsake what I want, and bring my heart up closer to God and His ways.
